Search



Can I search by normal anatomy, or by illness?

Yes! We have organized the images and exhibits by normal anatomy, pathology, trauma and surgery.

What do I do if I cannot spell the anatomical structure (keyword) ?

Select the letter of the alphabet you believe the word begins with, using the alphabet located on each search page. A pop-up window will appear including a list of all available keywords for that letter. Making a selection closes the window,populates the "keyword search" text block with the keyword, then searches for the appropriate thumbnail images.

Are the LIDO.com images anatomically accurate?

What format are the images available at the time of download?

Thumbnail and preview images are provided in .gif (graphics interchange format) or .jpg format (jpeg, Joint Photographic Experts Group), the two standard Internet graphics formats compatible with all mainstream Internet browser applications. The high resolution images which are downloaded are in standard BMP (bitmap) format, which is compatible with most mainstream word processing, page layout and graphics applications. Measurement and file size of the images vary. Complete Exhibits (one page presentations) are also available. These exhibits are fully rendered in an 8" x 10" size in PDF (Adobe's Portable Document File) format, which can be read by the Adobe Acrobat Reader4.0 which is available for free in our download area, or from www.adobe.com.

How do I sign up for an account?

Signing up is easy. You will need to provide us with some contact information and an e-mail account. Click on signup and fill out the necessary information.

Technical



Am I able to send an image (preview) to an associate?

Yes. Once you have searched for and located the desired image, click on the thumbnail graphic to view the larger image preview. Below the large preview, you will see a graphic labeled "E-mail this image to an associate". Click the graphic and you will be taken to a page where you can enter your name and email address and your associate's name and email address, as well as add additional comments to your message. When you have entered all the correct information, click the "Send" button and the image preview will be mailed to the address you specified.

This is a glossary of terms used in LIDO.com

download - the act of taking the image from our server and transferring it to your local hard drive.

exhibits - a series of images and text describing a surgical procedure or injury.

image Node - preview image (400X400 pixels) that has been watermarked with the LIDO.com logo and copyright, used to preview an image before download. images - individual medical illustrations or photographs, depicting anatomical information in a clear and concise way. View a sample image

keyword - words selected to describe and distinguish images and exhibits, used by the LIDO.com search engine.

thumbnail image - preview image (112X112 pixels) used to preview. Selecting a thumbnail image produces an Image Node.Thumbnail images appear on pages containing no more than 12 images per page.
